随着活塞杆行程的变化，液压缸导向副受到的作用力F也随之变化。当F达到一定程度——超过导向副支承环的支承能力时，支承环便会龟缩（我们权且这样叫它）到支承环槽子里去，此时，导向副金属面与金属面接触、摩擦、拉伤、泄漏等等现象就发生。
温度的升高，使支承环的弹性模量E急剧减小，因此，液压介质高温会加速支承环的龟缩，即加速液压缸导向副拉伤现象的提前到来。国产挖掘机液压缸容易拉伤就是很好的例证，这也是令各仿制生产厂家最头疼的问题。
当支承环发生龟缩时，液压缸两大摩擦副的运动间隙，已经严重超出我们设计要求，在非设计的轨道上运行，岂能不拉伤。
解决的办法——采用《液压自动对中柱塞副专利》技术。
